- We know the NSA has backdoors into all phones built right into the chips so having your data in a "Secure Enclave" doesn't do much good.
- Advanced malware can also harvest data from your phone.
- China is using facial recognition software to track its citizens everywhere they go (you're constantly on camera over there).
- Apple aggressively pushes Face ID despite it not being better than fingerprint.
- Face ID saves a 3D scan of your face that's way more accurate than a photograph and is linked to your ID.
I can't say if Apple is in on it (probably not) but if the government is harvesting Face ID data (or steals it or buys it in the future) couldn't it massively improve facial recognition software programs? Right now security cameras aren't so great and facial recognition software is far from perfect, but Face ID could make it nearly impossible to hide, well, your face.
God forbid we end up in a China lockdown situation, and you need to head to the black market for some bread so you don't starve, and you put on a hat, medical mask, and sunglasses, but then get caught anyway because the Face-ID-powered surveillance camera caught you and reported you to the police.
Or am I being paranoid?
